The majority of The Fightin' Reformers could not buy a basket for much of the night despite another strong showing from Ryan LaPierre, who led the team with 26 points. The rest of the team struggled to only combine for 9 points and TCC lost its third game of the year to drop to 4-3. The score was close through much of the game, but horrible officiating and bad shots doomed TCC. Earlier in the year TCC dismantled Earle Street, but the extra week off seemed to have affected the Reformers as their rust was evident. "That was about as bad as we could play" said Hugh Carson as he glanced over the box score. "14% shooting! Not gonna win many games shooting like that" he said disgustedly.
TCC seemed to have looked past Earle Street with the huge win over Edwards Road last time out and their big rivalry game up next week. "I would never use that excuse" said Randy Pifer who was abysmal yet again shooting 3 air balls before checking himself out midway through the second half. When pressed after the game why he went to the bench he simply replied "that was where I belonged".
Daniel Brown had one of the highlight plays of the year when he turned the ball over, but made up for it with a chase down block from behind. The Earle Street player was 10 feet in front of him when the turnover occurred, but Brown's impressive closing speed and superior athleticism won the day, just unfortunately not the game. Brown's block and Jerome Lawson's block against Northgate are both in the running for the TCC Play of the Year.
Next game up for TCC is their chief rival, Fairview Baptist. Fairview, led by John Miller and Stephen Donovan, hope to keep TCC reeling when they face off at St. Giles next Monday night. Fan Appreciation Night was scheduled for next Monday night, but a logistical issue has forced the festivities to be postponed to the following Monday night at Taylor's First Baptist when TCC takes of LCOS. Make plans now to attend Fan Appreciation Night at Taylor First Baptist. You will not want to miss out on this years surprise collectible item! "If you though the collectible cards from last year were great, wait till you see what we have in store for you this year" said GM Pifer.
