TCC has started the 2019–20 season 3-0 for the first time in program history. Monday night they were able to withstand the tough, some may say dirty, play of Pelham First Baptist to walk away with a 38 -23 victory. Hugh Carson returned to form to lead the Reformers in scoring. Carson had his long ball working tonight hitting 2 from deep. The LaPierre twins provided their normal all-around game with several highlight plays. Tyler Moody made his season debut and was able to affect the game with good defense and some timely rebounding and put backs.
The story of the game however was the referees inability to call any fouls. As the night wore on the game got more and more physical. Fearing injury, after a non-call, Randy Pifer was assessed the first technical foul in TCC history when he questioned the referee on his non-call. After the game he was asked about his tech, “I wanted to spur my teammates on to victory. I was brave enough to take that bullet so that the refs would start to call some fouls before someone got hurt”. After the technical was called Pelham Road stepped up to the free-throw line and missed both shots to which Pifer exclaimed “ball don’t lie!”
TCC will be hosting the annual fan Appreciation night on February 3, 2020 at 7:30 PM. Make plans now to join us for a night of celebration, game day program and other fun activities.

TCC Runs Away from Abner Creek Baptist
From TCCNN Reporter Randy Pifer
Updated on 11/25/19 @ 11:16 PM
TCC ratcheted up the defensive pressure and held Abner Creek to a paltry 21 points as The Reformers more than doubled them up to claim a 43-21 win. TCC runs their record to 2-0 and seems to be on a collision course with arch rival Taylor's First for the league crown. In past seasons, Taylor's has used their size advantage to bully TCC, but new addition Kyle LaPierre will start to even out the imbalance and should prove to be quite the battle when they square off in a few weeks.
Ryan LaPierre led the scoring charge tonight, but Abner Creek could barely get the ball across half court and the LaPierre brothers hustle led to constant fast break layups. Jonathan Chasteen also was able to feast on their turnovers with 3 easy layups. Josh Payne made his season debut but struggled as he attempted to knock the rust off. Hugh Carson, nursing an injured foot, gutted it out, but you could tell he was not his usual self. In a horrible display of sportsmanship Stephen Donovan was able to get a cherrypicked basket towards the end when the game was already in hand. Randy Pifer was held scoreless.
Next up TCC travels to Pelham First to play the Peacekeepers. TCC is 2-0 all time against them. The journey to a 10-0 season continues next Monday night at 8:30 PM.

TCC Opens 2019-20 Season With Win
by TCCNN Reporter Randy Pifer
Updated on 11/19/19 at 10:18 AM
The 2019-20 TCC Fightin' Reformers got off to a fast start on Monday night and never looked back as they toppled Resurrection Church 57-31. TCC's roster is decimated with injury (both physical and mental) and had to field a ragtag group just to have enough to play. Hugh Carson and Jonathan Chasteen were gametime decisions and there status did not become certain until minutes before tip off. Josh Payne and Donny Mathis were both held out of the first game of the year due to load management. GM Randy Pifer said "we wanted to rest their fragile legs for the stretch run". Ben Davis suffered a knee injury during the preseason and Daniel Brown has a hangnail that will hold him out for the season.
With Carson and Chasteen's status being up in the air, the only active members on the roster were Randy Pifer, Ryan LaPierre and newcomer Kyle LaPierre. TCC had to sign 3 players to 10 day contracts in order to play the game. Ryan "Wally" Willoughby, David Sandquist and Stephen "Dunk" Donovan were added to the roster and they all were able to contribute in their first games as Fightin' Reformers.
Willoughby's hustle and early shooting by Ryan LaPierre helped the team jump out to a big early 20-4 lead. Chasteen was attacking the bucket and drawing contact and finishing at the rim and Kyle LaPierre's size and skill around the goal was the difference in the first half. Rez made a run and was able to get back in the game, but Donovan's sheer will in the second half coupled with a timely 3 from Pifer and inside strong play from Carson and Kyle LaPierre and TCC was able to shut the door and coast to the victory.
TCC out rebounded, out hustled, passed the ball and played team defense better than Rez and that was the recipe for the win on this night.
