Most Valuable Player Nominees

As we come upon the last game of the season, Tuesday night, it is time to announce the 3 finalist for the softball MVP award.  The MVP is judged on three criteria: statistical performance, leadership ability, fan appeal.

The three nominees are:

Donny Mathis:
Donny was instrumental in keeping the team together.  He is a leader on and off the field.  Donny is not afraid to yell at another teammate if necessary, even taking it to the point of downright embarrassing someone if it means helping the team.  Said teammate Randy Pifer, "he will yell at you if you make a mistake, and it always embarrassing and hurtful!"  Mathis is also hitting over .600 on the year and has made a strong case for MVP consideration.

Aaron Cline:
Aaron has been the unquestioned leader when it comes to on-field production.  He has a team leading seven home runs on the year and is hitting an unbelievable .846 for the year.  He has had some issues with controlling his temper which will cost him valuable leadership points.  "Whenever we have needed a big hit, Aaron has been the one to take care of business" said Manager Justin McDaniel.

Benji Hutson:
"Benji is the heart and soul of this team" said Zack Blount.  Hutson has been instrumental in keeping the mood light in the clubhouse and making sure that the team is relaxed.  He is great at encouraging his teammates to make sure they play at their best.  He is also hitting over .600 and is second on the team in home runs.
