The CGBC Fan of the Year presented by Geico is being awarded today to the fan who has shown the most loyal support of everything that CGBC is involved in. The following nominees were regulars at CGBC basketball games and are sure to be present for softball, ping pong, badmitton, shuffleboard and water polo as well. Their unquestioned loyalty to the Fightin' Reformers is an example to us all. The nominees are:

The CGBCNN sent a reporter to Tom Kline's house and sat down for an interview.
CGBCNN Interviewer: Tom, you are up for the CGBC Fan of the Year Award presented by Geico. Could you tell us what this means to you?
Tom Kline: Well, actually, I wasn't aware that I was up for any award. This is the first I have heard of my nomination. I am proud to be nominated, but I feel like there are more deserving candidates out there.
CGBCNN: Is that false modesty? [laughs]
TK: No, it is actually how I truly feel. Jordan Lazar would be the most deserving fan in my opinion.
CGBCNN: What do you think has seperated Jordan from the other nominees?
TK: Her comittment mostly. I have never seen one person so active in support of a church league basketball team as Jordan was.
CGBCNN: What about Justin McDaniel? Does he have a chance to win tonight?
TK: Well, if I were voting, I wouldn't be selecting him, lets just say that [laughs].
CGBCNN: If you were to win the award, how do you think it would change your life?
TK: It wouldn't.
CGBCNN: ................
CGBCNN: Thank you for your time today Tom.
TK: You are welcome.
CGBCNN tried to reach Jordan Lazar for a statement, but our calls were not immediatly returned. Justin McDaniel declined further comment when approached by CGBCNN, but did repeatedly say "I dont know what you are talking about! I didn't see NOTHING!"

Season in Review; Award Winners; Looking Forward
CGBCNN presents their annual NGBABL End of Season awards. After weeks of campaigning, the candidates were informed of the results late last night. A private awards banquet is planned for tonight at the home of the GM and will feature live music, the presentation of the awards and a stand up comedy routine by Benji Hutson. "I need something to fall back on if I don't win the MVP award" he said last week in an interview. Hutson, along with Josh Harbert and Jon Goforth are up for the MVP award. Other awards include Sixth Man, Defensive Player and Front Office. Amber Mathis, wife of guard Donny Ray Mathis II, said "I was unable to attend the games this year due to having my first child, but Randy Pifer deserves the front office award! Through his efforts, I felt like I did not miss a second of the action!" Lauren Trammel, Rachel Wyatt and Zack Blount are all hoping to steal that award from him.
Looking Forward:
The Fightin' Refomers now have a long off season to think about what could have been. In the meantime, softball is just around the corner. The Reformers expect to have a solid team this year and look to win the Championship and claim that elusive first CGBC Trophy. Tryouts will be announced soon. Sixth Man of the Year front runner, Michael Moon, when asked about his feelings going into the presentation ceremony said, "It's exciting. We worked so hard to get our record to 5-7. It is just validation for the long season!" When asked how he would react if he lost he responded by saying, "I'll break stuff!" Zack Blount and Thomas Richardson are also up for the award.
The most tightly contested award, Defensive Player of the Year, turned into a battle that went down to the wire. Aaron Cline, Moon and Harbert all were deserving of this award and the vote count was so close it triggered an automatic recount and caused workers in Florida to stay up late recounting. Cline was clearly the winner in the majority of the country, but Harbert picked up most of the inner city votes and counting went late into the night. Harbert, looking drained from the whole process said, "where my dogs at?" We can only guess what he meant by that.
Without further ado, here are your Fightin' Reformer Award winners:
Front Office/Staffer of the Year:
Lauren Trammel
In a huge upset, Videographer Lauren Trammel won the Front Office/Staffer of the year award. She was instrumental in the success of the season. Randy Pifer graciously accepted defeat by saying "she deserved it, I guess".
Michael Moon
This is Moons first award as a Fightin' Reformer. He was huge for CGBC off the bench with his rebounding ability and solid defense. The future looks bright for Michael Moon.
Aaron Cline
Aaron Cline was one of the most important players on the court night in and night out. His defense keyed many big runs, and played a big part in all five wins for the Reformers this year.

Benji Hutson
In possibly the biggest upset of the year, Benji Hutson stole the MVP award from Jon Goforth. An exit poll showed that Goforth's haughty attitude caused a lot of the voters to sour of Goforth and select Hutson instead. Congratulations to Benji Hutson!

Meet the Candidates; Front Office/Staffer of the Year
Over the next four posts, "The Fightin' Reformer Review" will introduce you to the individuals who have been nominated for the four post season awards: Front Office/Staffer of the Year, 6th Man of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Most Valuable Player of the Year.
Today's post will deal with the Front Office/Staffer's and we will work our way up to the MVP award. Due to some technical difficulties, the polls have not been working. You can vote for your favorite person by commenting on the appropriate post that is dealing with the award you are voting on. All you have to do is select anonymous as your name and type the last name of the player you are voting for.
Front Office/Staffer of the Year. This award is presented annually to the person who has exhibited their dedication to the team through support, service and loyalty. A typical candidate will have assisted the team off the court to allow the team on the court do their jobs more effectively. Lets meet this years nominees.

Rachel loves numbers and its obvious from the first time you meet her. Her favorite joke is "have you heard the latest statistics joke? Probably." She is also a basketball junkie and has more than once been heard yelling from the sideline to her fiance Coach Blount to switch his defense or to try an offensive set she feels would be more effective. The Reformers would not know just how much better Jon Goforth is than the rest of the team without her stat book. Rachel and Zach are getting married in the off season.

Zack came to the Reformers after staring in high school. His vast knowledge of the game allowed him to guide CGBC to their inaugural 5-7 season. "We were a couple of plays away from being a 8-4 team. If we straighten out some of the mistakes, we will be right there next season" said Blount. Blount's offensive strategy, "get JG the ball" was effective, but the team struggled with defensive rebounding that cost them dearly. Zack is looking forward to getting married to Statistician Rachel Wyatt in the off season.

There is not much that Randy didn't do this season. "I just tried to make it the most enjoyable experience for everyone involved" he said. The highlight of the season was his brain child, "Fan Appreciation Night" in which he, along with some loyal fans, were able to convince 10's of people to show up to support the team. Despite their losing record, no one can say it wasn't a successful season thanks in large part to the efforts of the GM.

The Futile Fight to .500

A three point loss in the books, but a scar that will last a lifetime. The first ever CGBC basketball team will go down as a loser. The Not-So-Fightin' Reformers dropped a winnable game and watched their record fall to 5-7. A lackluster first half and poor shooting was their ultimate downfall. Jon Goforth played well enough to keep his team afloat and led a furious second half charge to get the team within one possession. That is when things got crazy. With 10 seconds left and possession belonging to CGBC, Aaron Cline stepped up to inbound the ball. Randy Pifer was left wide open on the right side and Cline threw him the pass. Pifer, remembering his coaches words before the game "your gonna go for double digits tonight", threw up a three that glanced off the rim. Josh Harbert grabbed the offensive rebound but had it knocked out of bounds. On the inbound pass, Goforth was able to get a good look at the basket, but missed the shot. Another offensive rebound allowed for one last desperation shot from Cline that fell short as well.
"As the unquestioned leader of this team, I take full responsibility for this loss" said Pifer. "Jon [Goforth] played great. I should have been looking for him. I'm just really disappointed in myself." Goforth, responding to the GM's comments, said "this is the first time I have been apart of a losing team. There are a lot of plays throughout a game that you can win or lose a game on. Randy's mistakes were glaring due to the fact they were in crunch time. I don't wanna point any fingers, but...".
Pifer wasn't the only one to struggle with his shot. Player/Coach Zack Blount was ice cold from the floor only managing a few layups and Cline missed a high percentage as well. Michael Moon, playing like a man possessed in the second half was grabbing offensive rebounds and going up strong, doing his part to help get his team back in the game. Harbert, playing loose and carefree, played solid defense but wasn't able to help in the scoring column. For the first time all year, the team was playing without free shooting guard Benji Hutson. A call was made to Hutson after the game to get a statement. "I just heard Randy [Pifer] cost us the game. Typical."
The season was a roller coaster. In some aspects, The Reformers had a very successful season, but when you look at the end record, no one can say it was what they had set out to accomplish. They need to get back to basics. The off season will be a good time for them to reevaluate what this team needs to win. The GM has a lot of decisions to make concerning personnel and who will be back next season, and the hardest decisions always start at the top.
NEWS and NOTES: The Fight for .500 Trophy was en route to the game tonight, but due to a massive two bicycle pileup that had traffic in downtown Travelers Rest backed up for blocks, was never able to make it to the arena. "We shook their hands, and congratulated them like men" said Thomas Richardson. "That is the least we could do."

The FIGHT for .500!
That is right Reformer Fans! Tomorrow night at 8:15 (Renfrew Baptist Church) is the last game of the season. The game has been dubbed by the media as "The Fight for .500". If the Reformers can pull out a victory they will finish the season at .500 and end the season with a record of 6-6. A win will signify a bright future for The Reformers, but a loss will leave a bad taste in their mouths that will linger for the entire off season. "It is a must win, for sure" said star point guard Jon Goforth.

Back on Track

The Fightin' Reformers returned to the win column with a 74-67 win over Oak Crest Baptist Church. Jon Goforth's speech after the Fan Appreciation Night debacle seemed to have sparked his team. Playing short handed with only six players, CGBC was able to hit some clutch shots and ice the game at the free throw line. Benji Hutson and Goforth both played well on the offensive end of the court while Josh Harbert and Aaron Cline picked up the slack on the defensive end. Randy Pifer and Thomas Richardson played as well.
Hutson, when approached after the game, said "I was shooting the ball well. I wish Jon (Goforth) would have passed me the ball more. It could have been a special night for me." Hutson had been struggling with his shot the last few weeks and the team needed someone other than Goforth to step up. Hutson wasn't the only player to try to shoot himself out of a slump. Pifer shot every time he touched the ball and each shot was more errant than the last. He ended with three points on 1 of 10 shooting. Pitiful. Cline said to the reporters after the game, "yeah, hes bad".
As the fans filed out of the arena, there was a sense of disappointment in the air. The team had won, but the announcement made before the game was what was most disappointing. The Playoffs have been cancelled due to the labor disputes between the referees and the league. Thursday nights game at 8:15 will be the teams last game of the season. In an effort to boost fan excitement, GM Pifer announced he will make a push to get the fans to the game. With a win, The Reformers will finish the season with a .500 record and can put a stamp on the first season in CGBC history. "We hope everyone will make it out to Renfrew on Thursday Night" Pifer said. "Lets finish the Reformers inaugural season with a bang!"

"The Promise" and NEWS and NOTES
The Fightin' Reformers have been off since Thursday night. The high of Fan Appreciation Night has since passed and the Reformers are left with the reality that they are on a three game losing streak. Jon Goforth gave a speech for the ages after the game on Thursday.
"To the fans and everybody in Reformer Nation, I’m sorry. I’m extremely sorry. We were Hoping for an undefeated season, that was my goal, something CGBC has never done here.
I promise you one thing, a lot of good will come out of this. You will never see any player in the entire league play as hard as I will play the rest of the season. You will never see someone push the rest of the team as hard as I will push everybody the rest of the season.
You will never see a team play harder than we will the rest of the season. God Bless."

Fan Appreciation Night Recap 10/18/12

It was to be a celebration. The crowning jewel of The Fightin' Reformers' first ever basketball team, and they had all the pieces in place. The team was all present and the gym was packed full of CGBC faithful. The opponent, however, had other plans and spoiled an otherwise fun filled and memorable evening with their basketball skill and athleticism. Ben Skaug, coming back from his near fatal injury, played well with 19 points but Goforth once again led the team in scoring with 21. The story today, however, was not what happened on the court, but rather what happened in the stands. A swarm of fans enveloped Renfrew Baptist tonight and turned their court into a home away from home. Super Fans Jordan and Paul Lazar lead the cheering and had the crowd in a frenzy from the opening tip. Stan Stein was overheard commenting on the turnout when he said "everything we do at CGBC we try to do with excellence. The basketball team could take a lesson from it's fans".
Josh Harbert and Aaron Cline played their usual good defense while Benji Hutson was in a rare pass-first mood and looked for his teammates early and often. But, as has been the case far too often this season, the Reformers were the victims of their own missed shots. Missed layups and forced shots seemed to rule this day. Fans Wayne and Traci Batson remarked, "it was like they wanted to build a house with all those bricks!" As the final horn sounded and the fans started to file out, John Beasley and Kaylee Bigger praised the event. "The atmosphere was electric!" "I know this much, they have gained a life long fan" said Amanda Butler. Season ticket holder, Justin McDaniel just shook his head as he left the arena. "He gets really wrapped up in these games. You should see his den wall! It is covered in Reformer memorabilia. He loves this team and hates to see them lose" said Tom Kline. The Auwarter family, seeing a Reformer's game live for the first time, left impressed with the event, but cautioned the team to be more prepared before the playoffs start.
Former professional baseball player, Phil Brown, noted "they were bigger and faster, but that is no excuse. The strategy was flawless, but the opponent continued to hit the outside shots and by the time they started to cool off, the lead had ballooned over 15 points and despite their best efforts, the Refomers' were only able to get as close as 5 for the remainder of the game.
GM Pifer, after the game, was very appreciative of all the fans who came out to support the team. "That was awesome. I'm proud to be associated with these people and this team. I think of them all as part of my family, and tonight proved what a tight knit group we are!"

It was to be a celebration. The crowning jewel of The Fightin' Reformers' first ever basketball team, and they had all the pieces in place. The team was all present and the gym was packed full of CGBC faithful. The opponent, however, had other plans and spoiled an otherwise fun filled and memorable evening with their basketball skill and athleticism. Ben Skaug, coming back from his near fatal injury, played well with 19 points but Goforth once again led the team in scoring with 21. The story today, however, was not what happened on the court, but rather what happened in the stands. A swarm of fans enveloped Renfrew Baptist tonight and turned their court into a home away from home. Super Fans Jordan and Paul Lazar lead the cheering and had the crowd in a frenzy from the opening tip. Stan Stein was overheard commenting on the turnout when he said "everything we do at CGBC we try to do with excellence. The basketball team could take a lesson from it's fans".
Josh Harbert and Aaron Cline played their usual good defense while Benji Hutson was in a rare pass-first mood and looked for his teammates early and often. But, as has been the case far too often this season, the Reformers were the victims of their own missed shots. Missed layups and forced shots seemed to rule this day. Fans Wayne and Traci Batson remarked, "it was like they wanted to build a house with all those bricks!" As the final horn sounded and the fans started to file out, John Beasley and Kaylee Bigger praised the event. "The atmosphere was electric!" "I know this much, they have gained a life long fan" said Amanda Butler. Season ticket holder, Justin McDaniel just shook his head as he left the arena. "He gets really wrapped up in these games. You should see his den wall! It is covered in Reformer memorabilia. He loves this team and hates to see them lose" said Tom Kline. The Auwarter family, seeing a Reformer's game live for the first time, left impressed with the event, but cautioned the team to be more prepared before the playoffs start.

End of an Era?
The wheels are coming off. The Fightin' Reformers are looking more like the Fightin' Armenians these days as their record has fallen below .500 for the first time in three weeks. What once looked like lock to secure a number one seed, the Reformers are now limping into the last week of the regular season and searching for anything to spark them. The near miraculous return of starting forward Ben Skaug was not enough as he struggled with his confidence and his shot. The Reformers packed the lane and forced White Oak Baptist to shoot from the outside. This was a good plan, except for the fact they had a 40 year old who couldn't miss from downtown. The switch to man defense allowed the Reformers to get back in the game, but poor shooting down the stretch doomed CGBC and they dropped their second straight decision 57-63. Jon Goforth, with a large group of family and fans looking on, was solid once again hitting 10 of his 15 shots, but the defense would key on him every time down the court and no one else was able to capitalize on open jumpers.
Benji Hutson's battle with the referees seems to have continued this night as he was whistled for ticky tack fouls all night and had to be careful to not foul out. He finished with 10 points, but struggled with his shot once again. Aaron Cline also chipped in 10 points and he, along with Josh Harbert played solid defense but the team was missing Michael Moon's rebounding abilities and it showed as they gave up offensive rebounds by the bunches. Player/coach Zack Blount (2 points), Randy Pifer (3 points) and Thomas Richardson (0 points) did very little to contribute.
Fan Appreciation Night is Thursday night and this team needs to figure out a way to get out of their current slump or else they are going to be embarrassed on the night that is meant to be a celebration and has recently been voted the Grandest Spectacle in all of Sports. During the post game press conference, coach Blount had this to say, "embarrassed, I don't know what else to say right now. That was a pathetic performance. That is a team we should have beat 10 out of 10 times!" A visibly upset GM didn't have much to say. "We had the largest group of fans in attendance in the history of our program and we drop the ball like that! I'm just sick to my stomach. I hope they give us another shot on Thursday night."
NEWS and NOTES: G Donny Mathis II hopes to return Thursday night for Fan Appreciation. G Aaron Cline will miss the game on Thursday due to an unfortunately scheduled lab. The much anticipated Game Day Program is going through its last minute updates and checks and will be sent to the printer tomorrow. Lets hope it is published in time for tip off. The Fightin' Reformers wanna thank the loyal fans who came to the game tonight. There were too many to name personally, but they all know who they are and their mild cheering and nonchalant attitude towards the game did not go unnoticed!

The Home Stretch/ Fan Appreciation
Your Fightin' Reformers are preparing to start the second to last week of the regular season. With only a handful of games remaining before the playoffs begin, each game is more important than the last. Fan Appreciation Day looms large on Thursday night, but first they have a date with White Oak Baptist on Tuesday evening. They need to be cautious to not over look that game as they prepare for Thursday's festivities. Thursday will be a celebration of the first ever CGBC men's basketball team. A team that could bring the first trophy to the churches' yet to be designated trophy case.
Fans are expected to show up in droves Thursday night. The sheer number of fans should astonish and confuse the opponent and allow the Reformers to jump on them early. Fans are encouraged to bring signs, noise makers and large cutouts of the head of their favorite person/player. All fans are encouraged to wear blue to the game and prepare for the first ever "Blue-out". Come be apart of history on Thursday night at 6:30 pm at Renfrew Baptist Church!

Has the Clock Struck Midnight?

The Fightin' Reformers played poorly tonight and lost for the first time in five game dropping a 59 to 73 decision to an athletic team from the Pelzer Church of God. The story, however, wasn't that the Reformers lost, but rather how they lost. Jon Goforth was slightly off and it became very evident across press row that if he is missing shots, this team has no chance to advance past the first round of the playoffs. Josh Harbert played well as he seems to be almost back to his early season form, but there was not much more positive play from any member of the team. Michael Moon grabbed his double digit rebounds yet again, but as shot after shot clanged off the rim the energy was sucked right out of the arena. Defensive stalwart Aaron Cline was back in the first half and helped keep the team in the game and to only a four point deficit at the end of the first half, but left at halftime to play in a volleyball game. His teammates were disappointed in his choice and all hope he gets his priorities in the right place for the rest of the season. Forward Benji Hutson was frustrated by the physical play that was being allowed. His frustration boiled over at one point when he got into a heated exchange with head referee Wayne Fowler. "I got upset and lost my cool. I felt like he was calling the game very one sided out there tonight" Hutson exclaimed. Thomas Richardson threw up wild shot after shot barely grazing the rim and Randy Pifer was only able to muster two points due to referee Fowler swallowing his whistle. Player/Coach Zack Blount left late in the first half and didn't return with an undisclosed injury. He is listed as day to day.
This loss comes at the absolute worst time for the Reformers. The team facility was buzzing earlier today and team moral was at an all time high with the unveiling of the new logo and the plans to open the new team shop, The Reformers Respite, that will allow fans to purchase all their Fightin' Reformers gear. "Not good. Not how we wanted this week to end. It's going to be a long weekend. I hope we can do a better job next week, especially on fan appreciation night" Goforth said. "There were very few positives tonight. We need to burn the footage and just forget this game and move on" Moon said. There were representatives from Addidas and Nike in attendance tonight as they were both vying to sponsor the team and introduce a whole line of Reformer gear, but one has to think the way the team played tonight will leave a sour taste in the mouth of both companies. Lets hope this was a one game aberration and not a sign of things to come. Cinderella's slipper still fits, but for how long?

Fan attendance was at an all time low. The late start may have played a part in this poor showing, but GM Pifer expressed his concern after the game. "This team need support. Press Conference NEWS and NOTES 10/10
During the Weekly Fightin' Reformers Press Conference, GM Pifer made official the switch of Fan Appreciation Day from Tuesday to Thursday. "It comes down to an issue of capacity. Double Springs just didn't have the available number of seats or parking spots we would need to fulfill the large number of fans we are expecting." Renfrew Baptist, located in beautiful Travelers Rest, SC, provides the atmosphere as well as the seating capacity that a team of this magnitude requires.
Other issues that were discussed during the 20 minute question and answer session with media:
On preparing for Thursday's game; "Tomorrow nights game will play a major role in the playoff seeding. Every game is a must win" the GM added. The Reformers take the court tomorrow at 8:15 at Double Springs.
"Karly Stache was released from the team, but was not for violating any team rules. It was a mutual decision between both sides. We wish her well in all her future endeavors."
"Coach Blount will be available to the media for 5 minutes before each game."
"The live webcast is a work in progress. Fan Daniel L Scarberry pointed out the need for this, and we are working diligently to bring this much needed medium to our boisterous and growing fan base."

News and Notes: Fan Appreciation Day has been moved to Thursday Oct 18 at 6:30 PM at Renfrew Baptist to accommodate the expected high number of fans who are going to attend. G Donny Mathis II missed his second straight game to be with his wife and newborn son. G Karly Stache has been released and is now a free agent and is eligible to sign with another team or could choose to resign with CGBC after a 30 day wait period. Perhaps the most troubling news involves F Ben Skaug. His injury seems to be more serious than originally thought. He is flying to Boston at the end of the week to be evaluated by a specialist to determine the extent of damage he has done, and if his career is in fact over. Everyone is in a good mood around the team complex as the Fightin’ Reformers run their streak to four and set their sights on the top of the league. League president Wayne Fowler said “in all the years of running this league, The Fightin’ Reformers are one of the teams that have played in the North Greenville Baptist Association Basketball League”. Jon Goforth, once again, led the team in scoring but in a downright shocking turn of events, Benji Hutson helped the Reformers grab a small half time lead by hitting shots all over the court from both inside and out. YouTube sensation and basketball legend Jason McElwaine described his first half play as "he was hot like a pistol!"
Michael Moon was once again grabbing every rebound within his reach and the team was able to overcome a less than 100% effort from the ailing Josh Harbert. The team was without defensive standout Aaron Cline and it showed as the opposition was able to continue to take advantage of both the zone and man defenses that CGBC threw at them.Thomas Richardson was able to get some penetration and find open teammates and Zack Blount overcame some early trouble and was able to finish a few big shots. Randy Pifer was a non-factor with six points.
Player/Coach Blount was not too happy with the team’s performance, but did concede “a wins a win, we will take it. We have to remember that you can’t take any team for granted in the NGBABL.” At 4-3, the Reformers are climbing themselves out of the hole the dug at the beginning of the season. “We just needed time to gel. More specifically, I needed my teammates to understand that I need the ball in my hands every possession” a decidedly more blunt Goforth said. Front office staffer Rachel Wyatt, when asked about her impressions of the game, was only able to muster a half hearted smile. “We are going to the championship, we are number ONE!” said number one fans, and world class optimists, Paul Lazar and Jordan Lazar. Team GM Pifer was happy with the teams progress but did state that “if we don’t improve we will be embarrassed on Fan Appreciation Day next Thursday”!

Fightin' Reformers Run Streak to 3

Jon Goforth lived up to his self given name of "Atlas" as he put the team on his shoulders and carried the Reformers to a huge victory. The win pushed the Reformers record back to .500 and ran their winning streak to 3. It is hard to imagine any team playing better right now. Using a stifling zone defense that frustrated Highland and forced them to shoot almost exclusively from the outside, the Reformers were able to build a lead and were never really threatened as they cruised to an eleven point victory. Josh Harbert was not at 100% and his game suffered as a result. The week off will be huge for him as he works back to full strength. Aaron Cline locked down on D and was a true unsung hero by holding his assignment to forced shots and passes all night. Benji Hutson forced shot after shot but luckily seldom used backup Randy Pifer chipped in 8 to make up for his poor shooting.
The story of the game was, once again, Goforth. His driving and pull up jumpers were on point as he willed his team to the victory. "I just love playing with these guys. I love every one of them" said the obviously humble point guard after the game. Thomas Richardson made some solid plays on both ends of the floor and Michael Moon was a monster on the boards as every player was able to have a hand in the win. "If it wasn't for Jon, I shudder to think what this team would look like" said fan Jordan Lazar as she walked towards the parking lot.
Thursday nights game was canceled after the opponent heard of the 3 game win streak CGBC was on and asked to be removed from the schedule. Next game will not be until next Thursday night, Oct 11 at 8:15 pm at Double Springs Baptist Church.

Coming off the BYE Week
It has probably felt like years since your Fightin' Reformers last took the court... But don't worry Reformers, they return to action tonight at 7:15 at Renfrew Baptist Church. Don't miss your opportunity to be at the first taped delayed game in Reformers history. That's right, we are pleased to announce that we have signed a package deal to broadcast our games with a slight delay (3 or so days) on this very Facebook page. CGBC Game 5... Start of the streak
Your Fightin' Reformers are on a hot streak. Thanks to strong play from Jon Goforth, Josh Harbert and Benji Hutson and one of the weaker opponents CGBC has faced yet, they were able to secure a 61-54 win. Hutson gave the team an emotional lift when he inserted himself into the game after what some were thinking could have been a season ending foot injury. Goforth supplied solid play on both sides of the court and Harbert had his best game of the year with 13 points and 15 rebounds despite the fact he was ordered to the bench by the referee for responding to an unusually mouthy opponent. Aaron Cline recovered from a poor shooting first half to find his shot in the last few seconds of the first half and hit huge shot after huge shot down the stretch to help lead his team to victory.
The stands were once again packed. "I can't believe I stayed up this late and kept Logan up past his bedtime! What a waste of time!" said father of two, Justin McDaniel. "Randy Pifer played way too much" said girlfriend of star Goforth, Lauren Trammel. "These games are starting to really drag" said Rachel Wyatt, fiance of player/coach Zach Blount.
Your Reformers are off till next Tuesday as they have their first bye of the season. It comes at a good time to allow Hutson and Ben Skaug to recover from their injuries and prepare for the second half of the season.
"We only have one goal, and that is a championship" said Goforth as he was walking off the court. "Bringing CGBC its first Championship is driving me every time I step on this court."
It will take more strong play from the entire team if they are going to play with some of the best teams in the league. Evangelistic Temple and Carolina seem to be the class of the league and CGBC will need to play at the top of their game to beat them. Lets hope the Fightin' Reformers are peeking at the right time!

CGBC Game 4... First Win
Well, CGBC, your Fightin' Reformers have finally broken into the win column. Thanks to a heroic effort by the duo of slash and smash (Jon Goforth and Pastor Ben) we were able to overcome a feisty Renfrew team who apparently had the referee crew on their payroll as well. The game was in doubt until a breakaway layup by Pastor Ben, a play in which he injured himself, put the game out of reach. It then turned into a free throw contest in which THE Covenant Grace was just a little bit better and was able to salt the game away and win 59-50.
The stands were packed full of fans. It was hard to keep track of them all, but as I spent alot of time on the bench I was able to do some counting. My best guess, and I'm no bean counter, was a total of 5 fans in attendance.
Please, CGBC, get to Double Springs next Tuesday night early! There may not be enough seating available for the droves of fans we expect. Game time is 8:15. See you there. As always, stay tuned for all your CGBC bball news!

Gentle urging to fans
CGBC, I challenge you all to be more like Ty Thompson. Ty and John Tyler were the first to join the CGBC bandwagon by coming to our game tonight. Think what advantage you could give us if we had a loud boisterous crowd behind us. Im talking signs, face paint, large face cut outs of your favorite player... whatever you deem necessary.

CGBC Game 3
Well, #CGBC, we lost yet again. It was a hard fought 66-60 loss in which we fought hard but couldn't any shots down the stretch. One again the fan support was weak, outside of a handful of faithful fans in the stands we played in front if mostly anti-CGBC crowd. For the first time all year we had our full roster and we showed moments of brilliance but couldn't sustain any momentum. CGBC looks to end the losing streak Thursday night at Renfrew Baptist at 6:15. Come out and support your Fightin' Reformers.

CGBC Game 2
Covenant Grace's basketball team has gotten off to a poor start. We lost a hard fought game last night. I blame all the members of CGBC for not coming out to support your team. Our next game is next Tuesday at 7:15 at Double Springs Baptist Church. I hope to see you all there supporting the team!

CGBC Game 1
Covenant Grace Baptist Church's basketball team played their first game tonight. We lost 82-62 or something like that. I'm fairly sure that the team we lost to was full of ex-NBA players. Game 2 is at Double Springs Baptist Church Thursday at 7:15.
